This is the third of seven articles that chronicle the details of this precious bird’s healing process.
In sharing this information with you I ask you to acknowledge along with me that parrots are intelligent, sentient and self-aware individuals capable of feeling a wide range of human-like emotions.
Why use a holistic and natural approach with parrots?
Many medical doctors now assert that emotions, beliefs, and the attitude that a person has directly influences good health or illness and disease. In recognizing that all sentient beings also have these qualities the opportunity is available to address healing animals on a level not possible before.

People who have tried many other traditional options to help their animal companions often come to me as a last resort. While those who know that intuitive communication, of some type, is possible with animals have eagerly sought me out. In order to receive the benefits of my work with an animal a person doesn’t have to believe what I say I can do. My client only has to be willing to put into practice as many things as possible that I suggest.

The next morning after Elvis realized that I had taken him from the mother and daughter he knew and loved he began biting me, aggressively – breaking skin, as often as he could. As I sat down next to his cage to work with him I began receiving impressions. He was furious that I had taken him from his family. When I attempted to review what had transpired, he accused me of lying.

“Do you remember what happened that day? “ I asked.

He pondered what I had said.

Initially the only foods he would eat were dry safflower seeds, dry sunflower seeds and apples. Thank goodness for apples. I began introducing new, healthier foods right away. His usual dry seeds went in his food cup. I added a second bowl and along with his apple pieces began offering the foods my other parrots receive. This included a mixture of my Original Sprouting Blend along with either fresh fruit or steamed vegetables. I also sprouted sunflower seeds and offered these. This is my favorite approach for converting a parrot to a healthy diet who will only eat sunflower seeds. Being a curious and smart little guy, he caught on quickly. Gradually, over several months, Elvis was completely weaned off all the dry seeds.
